Draft: not legal advice
This is a starting template, not legal advice. Have it reviewed by a qualified solicitor before you rely on it.
This policy explains how BearWalk uses cookies and similar technologies. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies, such as browser localStorage, store small pieces of information in the same way. They are widely used to make websites work, to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences.
2. Cookies we use
BearWalk uses only strictly necessary cookies (the ones needed to run the service securely). We do not use them to track you across other websites. Specifically:
- A session cookie, which keeps you logged in as you move between pages.
- A CSRF / XSRF token cookie, which protects your account against cross-site request forgery so that form submissions are genuine.
- A small cookie or localStorage flag that remembers you have dismissed our cookie notice, so we do not show it again.
3. What we do not use
We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell your data to advertisers. If we ever introduce analytics or other non-essential cookies in future, they will be opt-in and we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.
4. Because these are essential
Because the cookies above are strictly necessary for BearWalk to work and to keep you secure, they do not require consent. The cookie notice you see is an informational notice, not a consent gate. Nothing is blocked while it is shown.
5. How to control cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and set your browser to warn you before accepting them. Please note that if you block the strictly necessary cookies above, parts of BearWalk (including staying logged in) will not work properly.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we start using additional cookies we will update it and, where required, ask for your consent.
